In 2025, FC Andorra will forever be marked as the year of the return to professional football. After a season in Primera RFEF, the tricolor team managed to return to LaLiga just a year after relegation. But throughout the year, many more things happened that we will try to review in this brief summary of the last 12 months.
January
The first month of the year started off quite eventfully with two consecutive defeats that led to the dismissal of the then-coach Ferran Costa. The then-assistant coach Beto Company, accompanied by the rest of the staff, took over the team, and despite the 1-0 defeat at Ponferradina's field in the first match, the change became evident very quickly.
On the other hand, the winter transfer market was quite busy with the addition of three players: Oriol Busquets, Manel Royo, and Dani Villahermosa.
February
In terms of sports, the first team began their comeback to regain the playoff positions. And February was almost perfect: a draw against Ourense followed by three consecutive victories.
At the beginning of the month, there was also a press conference held by the majority shareholder Gerard Piqué in front of all the country's media outlets.
March
After a draw at home against Arenteiro, Andorra finally returned to the promotion playoff positions. Beyond the playing fields and coinciding with Constitution Day, the first team visited the Casa de la Vall, one of the most emblematic and significant buildings in the country.
April
Entering the decisive stretch of the season, the team led by Beto Company reached its best form. After the home victory against Tarazona thanks to a late goal by Bomba, the tricolors would no longer leave the top positions.
The open-door training session, held on the last day of the month, was another sign that the country was increasingly supporting the team to face the final stretch of the season united.
May
The victories at home against Nàstic and at Barça B's field made the tricolor team dream of the possibility of fighting for direct promotion after a spectacular comeback in the second half of the championship. But the unexpected defeat at the Nacional against Sestao condemned the team to take the long route to move up a category.
Specifically, the duel against the Basque team was Andorra's last match at the Estadi Nacional; the hosting of the Games of the Small States in the Principality made it impossible to continue playing at the capital's stadium.
June
Despite having to debut in a new stadium –the federation's stadium in Encamp, just recently built–, Andorra achieved the goal of moving up a category thanks to an almost perfect promotion play-off.
After defeating Ibiza with an aggregate score of 3-0, the tricolors also beat Ponferradina despite having, as in the first round, the home-field disadvantage. June 21 will forever be etched in the memory of the fans, as well as Lautaro's goal that thrilled the more than 300 tricolors present at El Toralín.
July
New season, time for changes. After just three weeks of vacation, the team returned to work with an important change: the arrival of a new coach, the Basque Ibai Gómez. Besides the coach, as expected, the squad underwent several changes with the arrival of a good number of players, most of them young and ambitious as their main traits.
As in previous summers, the tricolor team carried out the first part of the preseason in San Pedro del Pinatar, where the first two friendly matches took place.
That said, before starting the preseason, and despite having shorter vacations than usual, we still had time to properly celebrate the return to professional football with the ascent to the highest point in Andorra, the Pic del Comapedrosa.
August
Last preparation matches and a spectacular start to the championship: Andorra achieved a draw in their return to the category at Las Palmas' field and then secured two consecutive victories against Zaragoza and Burgos, which propelled them to the top of the table.
In August, before the league started, we also had time to unveil the team's three new jerseys.
September
The good feelings from the start of the league continued during the month of September with victories against Córdoba and, especially, at Racing de Santander's field. And not just because of the results: with a cheerful and brave style of play and positioned in the promotion zone, the team earned the praise of public opinion.
October
The tricolors missed two good opportunities to take the lead, and from that moment, the results crisis began, which affected the final part of the season. Despite the fact that the sensations were still good, in October the team coached by Ibai Gómez only managed to earn one point, with two very painful away defeats.
Beyond the sports field, the club was once again present with a stand at the Andorra la Vella Fair, one of the most important events in the country.
November
On the field, things did not improve with the change of month, and the team continued to accumulate matches without winning. Finally, after a tough home defeat against Castellón, both the club and coach Ibai Gómez mutually agreed to end the Basque coach's tenure leading the team.
Following a similar formula to the one adopted at the beginning of the year, the club's technical staff, led by Carles Manso, took over the technical direction of the first team.
The month of November also stood out for the start of LaLiga Genuine, the competition for athletes with different abilities in which FC Andorra has participated for the fourth consecutive season.
December
The change in direction soon had an effect on the team's dynamics: first in terms of sensations and, finally, in results. Thanks to a goal by Minsu in added time, Andorra managed to break a ten-match winless streak at Valladolid's field.
And to end the year in the best possible way, the tricolors confirmed the change in trend with a spectacular victory against another of the category's top teams, Deportivo.
