In a challenging season in a demanding category, the under-13 team will aim to finish the course in the best possible way: for now, this Saturday, in a weekend with two matches, Aldo Papadopulos' team achieved their first victory in the Principality by defeating Martorell.
Pobla de Mafumet 2-2 U19
The U19 salvaged a point in-extremis at the Pobla de Mafumet field in a match where, despite everything, they deserved much better luck. The tricolors had the best chances, but the locals were awarded two highly questionable penalties to score.
In the first half, Andorra started better, and before Carlos' goal, Juanfran had already had a very clear chance. After the 0-1, the game calmed down, and almost nothing happened until the 43rd minute when the locals equalized with the first of the penalties awarded to them.
In the second half, the tricolors were also superior but were unable to convert the opportunities they had, some of them very clear. Finally, with another penalty that shouldn't have been given, the Tarragona team took the lead in the 87th minute. A goal that seemed decisive if it weren't for Marcel saving a point in added time.
Pla Urgell 1-1 U15
The under-15 couldn't secure all three points to keep the pressure on the leader just a week before the vital clash between the top two teams, AEM and Andorra.
Against Pla d'Urgell, the tricolors clearly started strong but faded as the game progressed, following a first half of total dominance. Alan's goal right at the start helped, but Andorra kept attacking throughout the first half against an opponent that didn't even get close to the goal. However, the score remained 0-1.
The second half, however, was a completely different story. In the first minute, goalkeeper Joan had to intervene to save the equalizer, but the Urgell team clearly stepped up. The locals began winning duels and loose balls and eventually found the 1-1 from a corner kick.
From there, Pla d'Urgell retreated and sat back in their area. But the fluidity Andorra had in the first half had disappeared, and the team, despite a very clear chance from Iker and a few other approaches, was unable to find the goal.
Junior 5-0 U13
In the match postponed from the previous weekend and played on Friday, Andorra failed to achieve a good result from their visit to Sant Cugat. In a first half with few chances, Junior was very effective and started to tilt the game in their favor with a goal from a corner and a second from a long-range shot.
In the second half, the tricolors stepped up, with Nil hitting the post and Martín trying his luck with a long-range shot. However, as Andorra opened up, they left more spaces at the back, which the locals exploited to score three more goals on the counterattack.
U13 2-1 Martorell
Against a rival from the lower part of the table, Andorra showed their best version despite having to come back from Martorell's initial goal. That goal came in the first half from a penalty. Before that, the tricolors had some chances, the clearest being a one-on-one by Uritz, while just before halftime, Leo del Viso also came close to scoring after a cross from Martín.
In the second half, with the score against them, the team stepped up, and it soon paid off as Iker equalized from the penalty spot after he himself had won the penalty. With the score at 1-1, the match became more intense, and Aldo Papadopulos' team had to withstand a period where Martorell pressed with long balls and direct play. But the under-13 weathered the storm and eventually found their reward in a quick transition during added time, which Iker converted into the definitive 2-1.
