The youth teams of Andorra kick off official competition this weekend with the Juvenil, Cadet S15, and Infantil S13, all three in the First Division of the Catalan Football Federation. After the Juvenil and Infantil were relegated last season, the three teams face the new season with new coaches and the challenge of consolidating their positions in their respective categories.
The Juvenil, led by José Salvador, will compete in Group 11 and debut on Sunday, September 27, at the FIF Lleida field. The coach gives a positive assessment of the preparation: "In the friendly matches, we performed at a very good level and were also able to closely observe some things we needed to adjust and correct." Salvador is aware that the team still has room for improvement but is confident in their chances in a challenging away debut: "If we stay focused, do our job, and stick to what we know how to do, we will have chances to score points."
Also in the First Division, the Cadet S15, coached by Albert Reyes with Ricard Fernández ‘Cucu’ as assistant, will play in Group 14 and start the league on Sunday at the Intercomarcal field. After a preseason with three friendlies and a break for national team duties, Reyes highlights that the group arrives with "competitive rhythm" and points out the main goal for this start: "To implement the game model concepts and convince the group that the way to achieve things this year is to travel together in the same direction."
Meanwhile, the Infantil S13, coached by Èric Pelfort with Guille Burgos as assistant, will compete in Group 14 and debut on Saturday, September 26, at the Balàfia field. The team enters the competition after a preseason focused especially on adaptation, as a significant part of the squad is facing the Catalan league for the first time. Pelfort highlights the group's progress over the past weeks and approaches the debut with enthusiasm: "We know it will be a demanding category that will require us to give our best in every match, but we also see it as a great opportunity for the players to continue growing and gaining experience."
