After his first goal this season that allowed the team to earn a point against Unionistas de Salamanca, Manu Nieto has spoken to the media before training on Wednesday.
Statements by Manu Nieto
"It's true that I was struggling from the beginning of the season, maybe I gave it too much importance that affected me and caused me to put too much pressure on myself, but [Sunday's goal] I took it naturally"
"Honestly I haven't been at my best. I feel that way. I'm just one more of the team, I want to help and there are other teammates who deserve it, so I contribute wherever I can. The other day I came off the bench to try to win like any of my teammates would have done".
"It's a process: we have enough quality to solve all the situations in the game. We are showing that we are having a great level in the competition and in this process it's time to work and train and I think we will achieve it. In the end, football has its ups and downs and we don't have to get nervous or put too much pressure on ourselves; it's time to work and trust in the process as we are doing on a daily basis. I'm not worried".
"Before this last match I had already made the decision not to put pressure on myself, not to chase something that if it comes, it will come. I think I have the level to prove it and I think it is not so much a question of streaks but of mentality. Now I feel that I want to prove who I am, continue working and fighting, put less pressure on myself... and I don't know what will happen but now I am more confident in myself than I was a while ago".
"It is a question of not putting too much pressure on ourselves. I understand the situation and in home matches we have to overcome whatever happens to win. We are aware of that and I think that any team in the category tries to be strong at home. But with work and with the level we have, the results will come".
"I think that every match is different. In football it is not always the same and I think that in the end this feeling of being comfortable or not can be more of a feeling because we face each match as if it were the last".
"We try to think about ourselves. In the end, the other teams are also playing and the streaks they have shouldn't make us nervous. We don't think like that: we would be wrong. We have to focus on ourselves and continue working to try to improve on a day-to-day basis."
