The youth football teams of Andorra experienced their first league matchday this past weekend, with the official debut of the U19, the under-15, and the under-13 teams. The three tricolor teams began the season away from home, achieving one victory and suffering two defeats in a challenging matchday.
FIF Lleida 0-1 U19
The under-19 team started the season with a great victory on the field of FIF Lleida, a physical and well-organized opponent. The tricolors played a competitive first half, combining associative play with direct play and creating danger on the wings. Although the home team had the clearest chances, Andorra defended second plays with great solidity and prevented them from taking the lead. The goal came after a quick transition: Adri Deu drove the ball and drew the central defenders, Adri del Amo joined in on the wing, and after his shot and the subsequent rebound, Lucas Magalhaes collected the ball to make it 0-1.
In the second half, the home team increased their physical intensity and put the tricolors under pressure with crosses and long balls into the box. The team had to work hard to maintain their lead, with excellent defensive work and standout performances from the central defenders and goalkeeper Biel. The U19 held on until the end to secure their first three points of the season.
EDF Intercomarcal 4-0 U15
The U15 team was unable to start the season with a victory and fell 4-0 on the field of the Escola de Futbol Intercomarcal. During the first half, the tricolors struggled to progress in offensive transitions, and several turnovers forced them to defend during different phases of the match. Despite creating chances, especially from set pieces, they were unable to capitalize on them, and a goal from the home team in the final moments of the first half put the score at 1-0.
After the break, Andorra made some adjustments and managed to create more danger in the opponent's area, even generating two clear one-on-one chances against the goalkeeper. However, the ball refused to go in, and two consecutive transitions from Intercomarcal sealed the match. Despite the result, the team did not give up and continued creating opportunities until the end.
Balàfia 1-0 U13
The under-13 lost by the narrowest margin on the field of Balàfia (1-0) in a demanding match, also marked by the heat and against an opponent that controlled much of the game. The home team started with more intensity and forced Andorra to defend for much of the first half. The tricolors struggled to move out of their zone and win second balls, and a mistake in ball distribution allowed Balàfia to take the lead. Andorra created some danger in transitions but failed to finish their chances.
In the second half, the team tried to maintain more composure with the ball and connect several passes to overcome the opponent's pressure, but Balàfia continued to dominate duels and second balls. The tricolors posed a timid threat with some attacks, but the score remained unchanged. A first match that leaves room for improvement in the upcoming matchdays.
