If the first signing of the new season came from Ibiza, our opponent in the play-off semi-final, we found the second signing in the final: it is the former Ponferradina player Thomas Carrique. The French right-back arrived in the Principality after having left the Bierzo club and signed for two seasons.
Thomas Carrique (Tarbes, 26/2/1999) trained in the categories of Girondins de Bordeaux with whom he made his debut in Ligue 1 with the first team. It was a single league match against Strasbourg and another in the cup against Granville and, from there, his journey through the Spanish leagues began. He played on loan at Logroñés and Calahorra in 2a división B and then at Celta B and Ponferradina, with whom he has played the last two seasons, becoming a key piece in the right lane of defense.
In fact, this season with Ponfe, Carrique has played practically everything in the league. He only missed 25 minutes against Gimnástica Segoviana – he was substituted with the score 4-0 – and the matchday 35 due to card accumulation. The French defender even participated in all three Copa del Rey matches that Ponferradina played.
Welcome, Thomas. Your successes will be ours!
