Not a good weekend for the tricolour youth teams after the defeats of the U19 and U16 teams. The Infantil S13, for its part, did not play its match due to the impossibility of its opponent to travel to the Principality and this will have to be played on another date.
Reus 3-0 U19 | Everything against
U19 squad ended a streak of nine consecutive games without knowing defeat when after losing against Reus. The tricolours had all the problems accumulated – the wind, bad luck in the final meters and some referee decisions – and ended up falling by a score that was too exaggerated considering the merits of both teams.
The duel was resolved between the 15th and 22nd minute of the first half, time that the local striker needed to score a hat-trick – 2-0 in a very rigorous penalty. Despite the triple blow and having the wind against them, Andorra had many chances to close the gap before the break, the clearest of which was a goal disallowed for offside.
In the second half, with the wind in their favour, Filipe Busto's boys tried in every way, but with the scoreboard in tow, everything became more complicated. In addition, luck was not on their side either, as in Imad's shot that went over the crossbar. In the other area, the referee called another penalty, but this time Ferran won the game over the local attacker.
Balàfia 4-2 U16 | Good start, bad second half
U16 were unable to secure victory against a direct opponent despite taking the lead twice. Balàfia knew how to make better use of their weapons and a psychological goal just before half-time hurt Andorra a lot, who were not in good form in the second half.
In a crazy start to the match, Marc Ber put Cadet ahead on a set piece move (5'), but the home team equalised two minutes later. In the midst of the madness, only after kick-off, Nil put Andorra ahead again, but the joy was short-lived again and the home team equalised. From then on, the match calmed down and the Principality team had some good options to score the third, such as a shot by Adri that hit the crossbar and an action by Marc Ber that could not beat the goalkeeper in the one-on-one.
All the good feelings disappear in an unfortunate move just before half-time. Balàfia scored 3-2 and the match changed completely in the second half. The fact is that in the second half, the goal affected Andorra who played overexcited and unable to create danger, while the home team sentenced in the final moments.
