Andorra has capped off a week of great play and goals with an epic match against the league leaders, ending in a historic thrashing. The tricolors overturned an initial 0-2 deficit with an offensive festival and an almost perfect second half.
And this despite the fact that the match started off on the wrong foot for Carles Manso's team, as they saw Racing take the lead with two almost identical goals: Íñigo Vicente threading a pass to Andrés Martín, who set up Guliashvili for the finish. In between the two goals, Lautaro hit the crossbar, but with the 0-2 scoreline, the Cantabrians allowed themselves to sit back and defend deep near their area.
This made it difficult for the tricolors to attack, as they struggled with the double blow and lost fluidity in the final third. But in the 34th minute, Carrique connected with a red-hot Josep Cerdà, and the Mallorcan forward's header ignited Andorra. Before halftime, in another play involving the tricolor's number '21', Lautaro scored the equalizer, a goal that came with some suspense as the referee initially disallowed it for offside.
The best part was that the positive momentum carried into the second half, where Andorra completely outplayed their opponent. Moreover, everything seemed to go their way: Martí Vilà scored his first goal in a tricolor jersey after a great combination with Minsu (48'), and a quarter of an hour into the second half, with the help of VAR, the referee awarded a penalty for a handball by a visiting defender inside the area. Villahermosa made no mistake and virtually sealed the victory.
In the last 30 minutes, Racing was reduced to ten men, Owono made his customary game-saving stop, and Jastin and Le Normand completed the rout.
