Without 'punch' at Montilivi

The good streak of results was broken against Girona in a match that was not very successful for Andorra. The home team didn’t need much to practically secure the victory before halftime against a tricolor team that dominated but lacked ideas in attack.

The match started in the worst possible way because, from a free kick at the edge of the box in the 5th minute, Bryan Gil opened the scoring with a shot close to the post. From there, Andorra had to fight against the wind against a Girona team that didn’t need much to hurt the tricolors. In fact, the Catalans scored again on their next chance, taking advantage of a mistake in ball distribution, and with these two goals, they had enough to remain comfortable.

For their part, the team from the Principality didn’t have much more offensive production than the home team. Andorra had possession, but their ideas ran out in the final third. Only a disallowed goal by Jordi Cano for a clear offside and another shot by the number ‘15’ in added time with the score at 2-0, which Gazzaniga saved well, stood out.

In the second half, the tricolors tried to shake up the game with a triple substitution at halftime, but the script of the match didn’t change much. Andorra started energetically, but the energy didn’t last long, and Girona continued to defend comfortably in their own half. In fact, the red-and-whites could have made the wound even bigger with a shot by Asprilla that went just wide of the post.
