Jesús Owono, with the Equatorial Guinea senior team

The goalkeeper of FC Andorra's first team, Jesús Owono has been called up by the senior national team of Equatorial Guinea. The Equatoguinean team will face two matches in the qualification phase for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The opponents will be São Tomé and Príncipe and Tunisia, and the matches will take place on September 4 and 9, respectively.

In this way, Owono becomes the second footballer in the history of FC Andorra to be an international player with a national team other than Andorra's. The first to achieve this was Mustapha Bundu, with Sierra Leone, during the 2022/23 season.

The matches:

Thursday 4/9, 6 PM | São Tomé and Príncipe-Equatorial Guinea | Stade Municipal
Sunday 7/9, 11 AM | Equatorial Guinea-Tunisia | Estadio de Malabo
