Andorra did much more than their rival to take the victory, but the lack of accuracy in the final shot allowed Racing to get a point in a match marked by the heavy rain that fell throughout the 90 minutes. The tricolours have not scored when they had the Cantabrians almost KO and they ended up losing two points in a duel that went crazy in the final stages.
Despite Racing start better, Andorra soon took the control of the game. Karrikaburu had the first shot in a loose header and the visitors have enjoyed a couple of dangerous arrivals in the first 15 minuts. But from the 20th minute, Ferran Costa's men found a way to hurt their opponent and began to get closer to the goal. Ezkieta, the hero for the visitors, saved a dangerous shot from Iván Gil, while a few minutes later Rubén Bover and Lobete tried it. The winger was beating his marker every time he could run and from there much of the tricolour danger came in the first half.
Dominance and opportunities
Actually, in the 32nd minute, Pastor, who crossed half of the field with the ball at his feet, allowed Lobete to open the score after a great move. The goal gave even more energy to Andorra, who in the last minute before the break could have doubled the advantage: again Ezkieta was crucial.
At the restart, the Principality team try to decide the game and just at the start Karrikaburu had the first clear chance. And even clearer was the opportunity few minutes later: Iván Gil hit the post with a shot from outside the box and Karrikaburu hit the woodwork again in the second ball.
Andorra deserved to have a wider lead and still a few minutes later Rubén Bover was close to score. But the cliché says that whoever forgives ends up paying and this has been fulfilled. In a controversial decision because neither the ref nor the VAR said the ball went over the field, Andrés equalized in the 66th minute.
The draw hurt the tricolors and the game has opened. In a context that Racing dominates perfectly, Andorra suffered and once again had chances to score. The Santander squad scored two goals disallowed for offside, but the tricolors had three very clear opportunities to get de win. In the first Karrikaburu did not find the goal, a few minutes later it was Ezkieta who was again decisive with a shot from the '9' and, in the 83rd minute, the ball inexplicably did not cross the goal line after a corner kick.
