Andorra was unable to come away with a positive result in Beto Company's debut on the bench. The tricolours paid dearly for Ponferradina's goal in the first half and were unable to do anything to remedy it, despite a great performance after the break.
Andorra came out to try to control the ball and the tempo of the match, but in the first half they had problems with Ponferradina's push, who were the ones who came closest to scoring. However, there were not many clear chances either. The problem is that in one of the first dangerous attempts, Lancho opened the scoring with a header from the far post (20'). From there, the Bercians sent another ball into the back of the net in an action that was ruled out for offside, while Andorra reacted in the final moments with a double approach in added time: first Alba and then Alende.
The Principality squad needed to get going again and they did it in the second half. In the first 15 minutes, the tricolors enjoyed very clear opportunities to equalize the score. In the 47th minute, Luismi narrowly headed a good cross from Clemente, while a few minutes later, a shot by Iván Rodríguez forced Andrés Prieto after hitting a defender. And shortly after, Lauti had a very clear shot, but he couldn't get beat the home goalkeeper.
Andorra reached the area with relative ease against a home team that was only able to defend itself in the second half. In the 75th minute, Josep Cerdà tried it with a shot that went just wide of the post after hitting an opponent, while with ten minutes to go, Ponfe had the only clear opportunity to score. Taking advantage of the fact that Andorra was already playing with their central defenders beyond three quarters of the field, Cortés had a good chance in a quick transition but his shot did not find the net. Despite the scare, the visitors kept trying until the end, although without success in the final shot.
