The bad streak of five consecutive defeats is now in the past after Andorra managed to change the dynamic in a very challenging context: two consecutive away matches. After the victory in Granada and the goalless draw in Sabadell, the tricolors face the visit of one of the category's powerhouses, Castellón, with a very different mindset.
After playing the promotion play-off last season, the team from La Plana has started this new season strongly. Despite losing the top spot in the standings with the draw last week against Ceuta, the albinegros are one of the most in-form teams at the start of this campaign.
The only unbeaten team in the league
In fact, Castellón is the only unbeaten team in LaLiga Hypermotion with six wins and two draws. These impressive numbers have been a constant since the arrival of former footballer Pablo Hernández as head coach. Under Hernández, the orellut team has achieved 26 wins, 13 draws, and only 8 losses in 47 matches, including a qualification for the promotion play-off to Primera.
But Andorra does well against teams that propose and arrive at the Principality in good form. Last year, for instance, teams like Racing or Deportivo de La Coruña fell in Encamp, an achievement the tricolors hope to replicate this Sunday.
The precedents against the team from La Plana last season are not fond memories for Andorra – a 1-3 defeat at home and a 2-0 loss in Castalia – although in the 2021/22 season, the year of the tricolors' first promotion to professional football, the tricolors triumphed both at the Nacional (1-0) and in Castellón (1-3).
Squad
As for this Sunday's match, Andorra has already recovered all its international players with the return of Randy Schneider, who has been training with the team all week. The team, however, will be without goalkeeper Pau López due to injury, as well as regulars Théo Le Normand and Gael Alonso.
