The first participation of Andorra in the Genuine World Cup in Houston is now history, but the memory of this experience will last forever. With the tricolor expedition now back in Andorra, we were able to speak with some of its members to relive the Genuine World Cup firsthand.

"It was incredible, an unforgettable experience. We got to meet players from many countries," explained Pere Gabriel, forward of Andorra Genuine, who admits that he even managed to communicate in English, despite not mastering it. These feelings are shared by Rafa Soriano, who highlights "the visit to NASA" as the most remarkable moment of the trip, along with discovering the city of Houston and other activities the expedition enjoyed during their stay in the United States.

The competition, the least important

"We were respectful to our opponents, we played to enjoy ourselves and have fun, and the players always adhered to the values, principles, and philosophy of the team," explained coach Montse Sánchez, satisfied with the behavior of her players. And everyone agrees on one idea: "The result was the least important because the scoreboard almost didn’t matter. The atmosphere among all the teams was very beautiful."

Beyond the matches, the tricolor expedition experienced a week full of adventures. The visit to NASA's facilities was one of the most special moments, but they also attended a Harlem Globetrotters game, visited a rodeo, watched a basketball game, and discovered some of Houston's main attractions. "The boys were amazed," summarized Montse Sánchez.

In the sports realm, Pere Gabriel also fondly remembers the match against a "sister team" like Athletic Club, while Rafa Soriano highlights the team's way of competing: "We tried to keep possession and play as we always do." But above all, what will remain forever is the camaraderie with teams from five continents, sharing the same way of understanding football: with inclusion, respect, and friendship as the main protagonists.
