Andorra does the job and advances to the next round in the Cup

Andorra will be in the second round of the Cup after overcoming Varea in a serious and hard-fought match by the tricolors. The team from the Principality managed to withstand the effervescent start of the Rioja side until Diego Díaz's stunning goal arrived. From then on, Andorra controlled the match at will and achieved their goal of advancing to the next round.

As often happens in this type of match, the home team came out strong and ready to take advantage of any approach to the area to create danger. And they certainly succeeded. After sending a couple of balls into the area through a free kick and a throw-in, the clearest chance of the first half arrived: forward Iker Fernández picked up a loose ball, and his shot, with Nico Ratti completely beaten, crashed against the base of the left post.

After the scare, Andorra began their gritty game, having to attack a well-organized defense and remain patient. Before that, Nico still had to intervene in a free-kick shot, but little by little, the tricolors started creating danger at Encinas' goal. The first to try was Hugo López after a good cross from Juan Sebastián (26’), until finally there was a goal at Las Gaunas.

After a short corner, the ball reached Diego Díaz at the edge of the box, and the '22' unleashed an unstoppable curling shot that went in close to the top corner. A goal that made things much easier and ensured that the match, from that moment on, was much more comfortable for Andorra than it had been until then.

After the 0-1, Marc Domènech tried with a shot from inside the area, but it was right at the start of the second half that the second goal came, scored by Rijkhoff. From there, many substitutions, the 0-3 scored by Nacho Quintana with a shot close to the post, and a few more chances until the final whistle.
