Andorra falls in a semi-final that was contested until the end

FC Andorra have been left on the brink of the final after losing to Girona in an intense and exciting duel. The tricolors have taken a two-goal lead, but the rival has reacted and turned the score upside down in added time.

Andorra has come out with personality and has taken the lead early thanks to a great collective action. In the ninth minute, thanks to a pass back by Lautaro, Álvaro Peña has sent the ball into the back of the net with a shot with his left foot. The tricolors controlled the pace of the match and have increased the difference after a good pressure that has caused Girona to lose the ball in the exit. Lautaro, alert, has taken advantage of the opportunity and with a shot on the half-turn has made the second (33'). Despite the Andorran superiority, Girona has reduced the distances before the break with a quick transition. With two minutes left in the first half, a deep pass left the striker alone in front of the goalkeeper, who did not forgive.

In the second half, Girona took control and achieved the equalizer after an unfortunate move in which the Catalan defender, when trying to reject a lateral cross, scored into his own goal. With the match completely open, both teams fought to score the goal that put them ahead, but in added time Girona took advantage of a rejected ball without apparent danger to score the final 2-3 (93').

Andorra bid farewell to the Copa Catalunya in a semi-final that was contested until the end, but with the satisfaction of having given the opportunity to several players from the reserve team and youth team. All the players from the youth team called up were able to enjoy minutes with the first team, gaining valuable experience in a demanding scenario.
